  • Minimum of at least one paragraph (6 - 9 sentences) each day
  • Detailed understanding of book demonstrated in journal
  • Explanation and analysis of the "So What?", theme, or lesson
  • Format is correct and consistent
  • Daily reading from SSR and home is complete and logged in book journal daily
  • Spelling, punctuation, and capitalization is correct

3 or B
  • Entries have several details from the book
  • Specific details from book relate to the topic and thoughts, ideas, and opinions
  • One paragraph (5 - 7 sentences) each day
  • Understanding of book demonstrated in journal
  • Explains the "So What?", theme, or lesson

  • Reading from SSR and home is logged in book journal daily
  • Spelling, punctuation, and capitalization is correct
